All non-vegan readers, I assure you will greatly enjoy any of my three favorite healthy vegan desserts in NYC this summer and might even find non-vegan versions at the same places if you prefer.
If you are vegan like me and traveling, I know how challenging sometimes it can be. Luckily, New York is a very vegan-friendly city. You will find plenty of plant-based food and desserts in the Big Apple. However, not all vegan desserts and food, in general, are healthy. I am quite strict about what I eat and how my food makes me well.
This being said, let me share my three best vegan desserts in NYC this summer that satisfy my sweet tooth while leaving me feeling light and full of energy. I promise you no guilt or regret. Stay to the end because I will finally reveal my favorite vegan sweets in New York.
My # 3 Favorite Healthy Vegan Dessert in NYC
Acai Bowls from Deep Purpl
Deep Purlp’s Acai bowls are not too sweet and look amazing! You can choose unlimited toppings from a great selection of options – coconut, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, almond butter, granola, chia seeds, and more. Go crazy as you desire, or create a perfectly balanced vegan dessert!
You can also pick the size of your bowl. I never choose the largest one, but the smallest one always feels like it wouldn’t be enough.
Deep Purpl is a tiny, fully plant-based place in the West Village, just 5-7 minutes from Washington Square Park. This shop offers a great selection of vegan empanadas (delicious!), several of which are sweet options, acai bowls, and smoothies. Honestly, I enjoy anything from this small shop. It is a great place for a treat, snack, or proper meal.

My #2 Favorite Vegan Dessert in NYC This Summer
Blackberry Slice from Ole & Steen
I found this dessert recently, and it became one of my favorites from the first spoon! The blackberry slice vegan dessert is light blackberry mousse on a coconut and puff rice base. Puff rice is dipped in what tastes like dark chocolate. Its crunchy texture and slight bitterness of chocolate balance out a perfectly light and smooth sweet mousse with sour notes of blackberries. This dessert is so perfect with a quality cup of coffee or tea!
The size of the vegan dessert is enough to share and enjoy with a friend or loved one, especially if you come to the cafe for more than just a dessert.
Ole & Steen is a Danish cafe with a local twist that offers a great selection of bread, cakes, hand-crafted pastries, salads, and soups. This cute cafe in New York provides a unique cozy atmosphere, perfect for taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the city’s streets. You can even check out their full menu right here.
There are several locations around Manhattan. My favorite one is in Tribeca. This location is new and great if you visit the One World Observatory, 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

My #2 Favorite Vegan Dessert in NYC
Organic Sorbet from Amarino
Honestly, gelato from Amarino has been my favorite vegan dessert for many years. I am unsure if other New York plant-based desserts can beat that delicious sorbet. Most vegan ice cream, gelato, or sorbet I’ve tried have artificial flavors and tastes I can’t stand.
Amarino’s sorbet is a perfect organic, gluten-free, vegan dessert in New York that tastes natural. Every time I enjoy it, it is a burst of natural flavors in my mouth, almost like I eat fruit or berry. It’s lite, delicious, and doesn’t leave an aftertaste or heaviness. I usually choose the smallest cup that is always enough to enjoy, leaving me wanting just a little more. I am perfectly fine with that!
Amarino offers a wide selection of vegan flavors, including some seasonal flavors. I’ve never felt bored of their gelato flavors because almost every time I come, there is a seasonal flair to try. You can pick one flavor or several, and I usually play with three different flavors to create interesting flavor combinations. I never miss the chocolate flavor. 🙂 What is your favorite flavor? Check out their full list of flavors over here.
Amarino shops serve organic gelato, sorbet, waffles and crepes, coffee, macaroons, and grommet products. There are several locations around the city. My favorite is in the West Village, not that far from Union Square and Washington Square Park.
Location: 60 University Pl, New York, NY 10003.
